It's been a busy few couple of weeks getting ready for fall lessons to begin! Busily updating my repertoire of piano books, finding new games to help reinforce theory concepts, and most importantly, relocating my studio out of the front room of my house! The old location didn't allow for a proper set up of a piano studio and it also inconvenienced my family greatly. In the new location, I am able to put together a nice waiting area for students and parents, have a designated theory area for theory lessons, and put some music decorations up on the walls to inspire students!
This is what the new studio will look like when you walk into the room! The piano set up as remained relatively the same as in the old studio. The window above the piano allows a lot of natural light into the room. It's a lot brighter than my old space!
On the left, you'll find the theory station for my students! It will be great to do theory at a desk now, as opposed to trying to write at the piano! On the right, you'll find the waiting area! Great for parents that are staying for their child's lesson, or for students that are waiting for their lesson to begin. I have also added a bulletin board with some reading material for students or parents to look at while they're waiting. Above the theory station, I've put a timeline of composers to help inspire students! This includes some of the greats such as Vivaldi, Mozart, Schubert, and Bernstein! Lastly, on the wall above the waiting area, you will find a section of Haydn's Surprise Symphony with some cards explaining all the theory symbols in the piece.
Overall the studio is about 95% complete! I still have to put up my curtains, and get a picture to go up on the wall beside the window. Otherwise, it's ready to go! I really hope that students enjoy the new studio space and all the benefits it has to offer! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back the week of September 8th!
